How Laser Hair Removal Works
During laser hair removal, with the vacuum assisted technology, the handpiece will be passed over the treatment area, and your skin will be gently drawn into it using vacuum-assisted technology. Laser energy is then applied to your skin, targeting the pigment in your hair follicles. This destroys unwanted hair and prevents new growth in that area.
Throughout this process, your skin will be continuously cooled by the handpiece, which helps maximize comfort. Similarly, because the skin is drawn into the handpiece, it is closer to the energy source and therefore requires a lower fluency (energy density). As a result, less energy is absorbed by the epidermis, making it safer than other types of laser hair removal treatments.
For smaller areas, the device used a Chilltip technology that precools the skin prior to the laser which leads to more comfortable treatments compared to other laser hair removal technology. As a results, higher energies can be used to make the treatment more effective and safe.

Before & After
Laser Hair Removal - Frequently Asked Questions
How Many Laser Hair Removal Treatments Will I Need?
Hair grows in multiple distinct cycles, so each session will target new and different hair follicles in various growth cycles. Treated hairs will immediately begin to shed, and they will fall out two to three weeks after the session. Six to nine sessions are recommended for complete hair removal.
Is There Any Downtime After Laser Hair Removal?
Slight redness may appear on the treated area for 20 to 30 minutes after the treatment, but these side effects usually subside after a few hours. It’s important to also avoid sun exposure after your treatment.
Is Laser Hair Removal Painful?
Être uses the Lumenis LightSheer® DESIRE™ with ChillTip™ technology for maximum comfort. Because the handpiece continuously cools the skin during treatment, most patients do not experience significant pain.
How Long Does a Laser Hair Removal Session Take?
In most cases, treatments with Lumenis LightSheer® DESIRE™ can be completed in as little as 10 minutes.
Does the Color of My Skin Make a Difference?
All shades of skin can be treated by our advanced laser technology. Dr. Lisa Donofrio and Dr. Kyle Coleman will calibrate the laser settings to match your skin type. Even tanned skin can be treated safely, but if you have been tanning or have been overly exposed to the sun in the last three weeks, please notify your doctor during your consultation.
