What to Expect–Results and Recovery from Radiesse®

If you are considering getting dermal fillers, you have probably heard about Radiesse®. Radiesse® is an FDA-approved dermal filler that can help you get rid of wrinkles and make your skin glow again. In as little as one session, these injections can restore lost volume in your skin and stimulate your body’s natural production of collagen.

Radiesse® is one of the many fillers we offer at Etre Cosmetic Dermatology & Laser Center. If you think this may be the right option for you or simply want to learn more about cosmetic injectables, this blog is meant for you!

How Soon Does Radiesse® Show Results?

Like most dermal fillers, Radiesse® obtains instant results. As soon as you leave our practice, you will observe an immediate improvement in your skin’s texture and appearance. Over the hours, you will start noticing how your wrinkles and fine lines are being smoothed away. However, although these initial results are undoubtedly pleasing, patients must remember they are only a glimpse of their final results.

Is There a Difference between Immediate and Final Results?

Sometimes, patients get concerned when noticing that the initial results seem to be fading away. But you don’t need to worry. Your body quickly absorbs the water present in the injections, so it’s normal for your skin to lose some volume in the following days after treatment. Once your body starts producing collagen, you will recover the lost volume after seven to ten days.

The main difference between these two situations is that while the first results are mainly a consequence of the water injected, the final results are naturally enhanced by boosting your natural collagen production. These full results are obtained by both the volume added by the filler and your body’s increased level of collagen within the inner layers of your skin. This is one of the features that make Radiesse® so unique.

Is There Any Downtime After Radiesse® Injections?

Not really. You can expect some swelling or redness in the injection site, but this discomfort quickly resolves on its own. Most patients can go back to work on the same day of the treatment. However, exercise is not recommended for at least 24 to 48 hours after the injections.

How long do results last?

In terms of lifespan, Radiesse® is different from other fillers. As this filler stimulates the body’s collagen production, patients can expect results to last between 12 to 18 months—pretty amazing as most fillers wear off after six to nine months. The time you get to enjoy your results may vary depending on your age and the severity of your skin issues, but even patients with deep wrinkles and excessive skin laxity can expect long-lasting results.
